What to include in you resume and what not to include
Rule of Thumb
Only include details that are relevant to the job you are applying for. Put yourself in the employers shoes and ask yourself: What information do they need to know?

Essential information to include in all resumes

Your name, contact details and address

Age is not required by law but if an employer is seeking someone around your age it is a good idea to include your date of birth

Name of school/s and dates of attendance
-
Existing qualifications
-
Awards/Prizes
-
Skills
-
Referess and positive quotes made by referees
-
Interests/hobbies

How to word Your Resume:

Start with a verb, eg assisted, resprayed, initiated, organised, prepared, played.

Say what you did in one sentence, two at the most.

Try to finish with an outcome, ie the results of your work.
For Example:
"I assisted friends with organizing a field day for young people at Kalamunda March 2004"
"Helped pick grapes in my families winery"
"Contributed to the clean up of our suburb during the clean up Australia campaign. Aswell as lifting rubbish, I assisted in organizing the distribution of clean up materials for other volunteers. The results were that all volunteers had the appropriate materials on the day"

Tips on Design

Avoid writing in small font. People do not enjoy reading small fonts.

Avoid squeezing to much information on one page. Be generous in you spacing.

Start with your most recent achievements and work chronologincally backwords.
Jobs advertised on-line usually have resume templates you can adhere to. When you come across such on-line templates simply follow the instructions.
