Reciprocal agreements allows students and staff to borrow from other libraries within the agreement.

The TAFEWA Library Services have established reciprocal rights agreements with:

  • All TAFEWA Colleges in Western Australia
  • Edith Cowan University
  • Murdoch University
  • Notre Dame
  • Selected TAFEWA Colleges throughout Australia

Reciprocal agreements between libraries include conditions relating to the exchange of information about their borrowers.

Staff and students are required to agree to release personal details if they wish to use reciprocal borrowing rights. Please read the Privacy Conditions for Reciprocal Borrowers.

WA Reciprocal Borrowers

How do I apply to use these services?

TAFEWA Students and staff

Can apply direct to their choice of host institution for reciprocal borrowing. They will need to take with them:

  • Current enrolment form from their home educational institution
  • Current Student/library ID card

Membership is free and valid for the current year only. Your membership is personal and is not transferable to any other student.

University students and staff

Must supply a current student/library ID card with proof they are members of their home library.

Is the membership permanent?

Reciprocal memberships are current for the calendar year only. They expire on the third Friday of December of the current year. You will need a new reciprocal membership card to reactivate the membership for the following year.

Where should borrowed items be return?

You must return items to the library that you borrowed them from. The lending library will charge penalties and fines for late returned or damaged returns. Failure to honour responsibilities may result in the reciprocal borrower being suspended from both home & reciprocal libraries.

Can I receive fines from other Libraries?

While you are a reciprocal member, you will be liable for all fines and fees incurred as a member of that library. Reciprocal libraries will advise home libraries if their borrowers cease to be members in good standing and the home library will reciprocate by withdrawing your library privileges.

Remember that you are a guest at the library which allows you reciprocal borrowing rights. Its rules may not be the same as those of your own library, so be sure to make yourself familiar with them, and take care to observe them. Borrowing may be refused, or withdrawn from, any person who fails to observe the conditions which apply.
